Honoring a Lifetime of Compassion for Animals

At Animal League America, we are profoundly grateful for the partnership of donors like Abdul Isahack, who recently made a generous gift in memory of his late wife, Bharnie. Abdul and Bharnie’s support of our organization began in 1984 when they came to our Port Washington Adoption Center and found Lance. A clever shepherd mix, Lance was their loyal companion for 19years. Then in 2005, they adopted Kiwi, an affectionate Labrador rescue, and she was a beloved member of their household until her passing two years ago.

“My wife’s wish was always to give to North Shore Animal League America,” Abdul shared. “Lance and Kiwi were like family to us, and over the years we always gave money to support your efforts.” Abdul remembers first hearing about our rescue work on television and was impressed by our no-kill mission and dedication to animal welfare. Over the years, Abdul witnessed the growth of Animal League America from a small adoption center to the international, multi-faceted organization we are today.

Donor Spotlight: Abdul IsahackIn honoring his wife’s memory, Abdul not only made a significant donation but also chose to memorialize her passion for animals with a commemorative tile that is displayed on the donor wall at our facility. “Having this tile means she will always be a part of Animal League America,” Abdul said.

Although Abdul can no longer physically care for a dog in his home, his love for animals remains unwavering. He’s pleased that his son, who lives in California, is also keeping up the tradition of adopting pets, ensuring that their family legacy of compassion and care for living creatures lives on. We are incredibly thankful for Abdul’s generosity. If you would like to make a gift of support in honor of the animal lovers in your life, know that your contribution has a lasting impact and will help our no-kill mission continue long into the future.
