Many shelters have requested, and now it’s here – The Animal Shelter Guide to the Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum and Virtual Internship Series. A collaboration between Yale University’s School of the 21st Century and North Shore Animal League America; connecting social-emotional learning via humane education.

The Animal Shelter Guide is a broad range of lessons, projects, and activities to connect shelters with schools and libraries. This valuable resource goes hand-in-hand with the Mutt-i-grees Virtual Internship, an online video series demonstrating the connections between social-emotional learning, humane education, and the work of the animal shelters and rescue groups.

What is the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum?

Guided by the research on resiliency, social and emotional learning, and human-animal interaction, the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum includes lesson plans to actively engage students and promote social and emotional competence, academic achievement, and awareness of the needs of shelter pets, also known as Mutt-i-grees.
