Located on the shores of Lake George, Warren County is home to approximately 66,000 residents. It is also the site of one of our newest and most exciting projects, the North Country Initiative (NCI), launched in September 2015. Working with the NCI team, we’ve developed a holistic program to address the complex problem of feline overpopulation in ways that are humane, educational, and lasting.
Operating as a no-kill rescue and adoption facility for felines, NCI also supports spay/neuter initiatives to help “plug the flood” of new litters. In addition, it participates in local adoption events alongside other Warren County rescue groups. Equally important are ongoing efforts to implement programs that address the immediate needs of feral colonies, as well as the many friendly cats ready to begin new lives in loving homes.
Celebrating Over 8,000 Cats Spayed and Neutered From the Local Region
In June 2025, The Adirondack Region Cat Adoption Center proudly announced that through rescue, and by providing financial assistance and transportation when needed, has resulted in the spaying and neutering of over 8,000 felines since their launch in September 2015. Reaching this milestone achievement means the population and health of both companion and feral cats in Warren and Washington Counties is being well-managed and the number of animals euthanized is being reduced.
