By Setting Up a Fund To Cover the Costs of Adoption Fees They Enabled Hundreds of Approved Families to Have A New Best Friend Home for the Holidays
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Monday, December 12th, 2016 (Port Washington, N.Y.) – More than 250 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens of all ages and breeds from North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, found loving homes in time for the holidays this past weekend. Beth & Howard Stern, and a small group of friends, set up a fund to pay the adoption fees for all approved adopters from this past Friday through Sunday. Their hope was to encourage more people to adopt over the holidays and clear the cages at the shelter – and it certainly worked.
“My wish was to provide this holiday gift to animal lovers as well as the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens who were in need of homes, and of course to North Shore Animal League America,” said Beth Stern. “To know that so many homeless animals will now have homes for the holidays, especially so many of the older cats and dogs, is the best gift of all.”
North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no kill animal shelter, pioneered the practice of humane relocation over 30 years ago in an effort to find responsible homes for as many animals as possible and to raise awareness about the plight of homeless animals.
“We have been so fortunate to work with Beth as a volunteer, foster parent and national spokesperson for over a decade,” said Joanne Yohannan, Senior Vice President of Operations, North Shore Animal League America. “Beth is truly committed to saving as many innocent lives as possible and I’m thrilled to see so many empty cages”. Thank you Beth and Howard for all you do for those without a voice.
