Can I take legal action against my landlord?

Question

While my fiancé and I were at work, the person we rent from (our landlord) entered our private space and removed my dog from the property without asking us first. We agreed to allow her to let a friend look at our dog because his health was declining and he had some sores on his neck. All we agreed to was her looking at him and wrapping his wounds. Her friend deemed the dog in danger and just TOOK the dog without any warning. Later, the cops were called but AFTER the dog was removed from our home. Do I have a case?

Answer

It sounds more likely that a case will be brought against you for animal neglect/cruelty than that you will have a case against anyone, particularly since you gave permission to the landlord to give your friend access to your apartment to check on the dog. I hope the dog was taken to a veterinarian and is getting the care he needs.
