Can neighbor sue over dog on dog attack?

Question

My neighbors dog ran into my yard and went after my dog while my aunt was walking him around the yard, and my dog killed his dog. Can he sue me?

Answer

How sad. People can sue regardless of the merits of the case. However, when a dog “trespasses” onto private property after a dog lawfully on the private property, the owner of the “trespassing” dog will have a difficult time winning a lawsuit for monetary damages.
