Question
I have 40 cats and animal control is all over me thanks to my neighbors reporting me. I am one person trying to keep up with taking care of these animals. Animal control will not help but is threatening me with charges if I don't do better at keeping the house clean. What can I do?
Answer
It is very difficult for any person to properly care for 40 cats. In response to what you can do, consider what animal control has said regarding keeping the house clean. Ensure that each cat is getting a sufficient supply of appropriate food and water and necessary veterinary care, have plenty of clean litter boxes, provide space for the cats to comfortably exercise and play, and try to find humane homes for many of these cats. Of course, all of these cats should be spayed and neutered. Your failure to provide a humane and sanitary environment for these cats (even if you consider yourself well-intentioned) may result in the cats being seized and you being prosecuted. I hope this all works out well for these cats!
