Pet Store Misrepresented Breed

Question

Hello. I purchased a “doxie-poo” puppy from a pet store. After researching pet stores, I am disgusted at my mistake. I ran a DNA test on my puppy to determine if he was what they claimed. He is not. I’m wondering if I have any power here in getting some of that purchase refunded.

Answer

Many so-called “designer dogs” (fancy words for mixed breed) are born in puppy mills where breeding dogs live for years in deplorable conditions. More and more laws are being enacted to ban the sale of dogs and cats from pet stores. Consider that if there wasn’t a demand, there wouldn’t be a supply and many animals would be spared a life of misery. Not all DNA tests are as accurate as others so you may wish to repeat the test. People who believe they overpaid for a dog can sue to try to get compensated for the difference in value of the dog purchased and the dog represented at sale. Next time, please consider adoption! I hope your dog has a long, healthy, and happy life.
