Possession of dog without a contract.

Question

If I didn’t sign a contract is a person allowed to come get a dog even if I make payments, but sometimes they’re late?

Florida, USA

Answer

Removal of a sold animal by a seller without the consent of the purchaser would not normally be legal. Rather, a person who believes they are owed money can sue to try to get compensated. While the lawsuit can be for money or the return of an animal, worth noting is that a few states have already banned pet leasing which is when a person agrees to a payment plan and further agrees that the seller “owns” the animal until all payments are made. You indicated in your inquiry that there was no such agreement with the seller, but people who believe that their animal may be removed should take extra precautions to safeguard the animal. Making payments on time should be a priority too.
