Question
We decided to surrender both of our dogs to a local shelter this month. One of them has been adopted and one of them remains in the shelter. We are wondering if we can get him back through re-adoption and how much would the minimum and maximum cost be?
Answer
The decision on whether to re-adopt an animal to a person who surrendered the animal would be up to the shelter. Adoption fees are generally also up to the shelter unless there is a local law or contract with a municipality that sets the fee. Impoundment fees for re-adopting a surrendered animal are sometimes charged as well for the time the animal was boarded at the shelter.
