Rehomed by mistake.

Question

I had gone without sleep for a couple months and I really wasn't aware how much I would miss the dog and the people won't let me visit her.

Answer

Regrets do not equal rights. People who rehome their animal generally have no further rights to that animal and the person with whom the animal was rehomed generally has no legal obligation to return the animal or to allow the animal’s prior “parent” to visit the animal, unless there was an agreement stating otherwise. Also consider that rehomed animals need time to adapt to their new families and visiting and then leaving a rehomed animal again may make that process more difficult and may also cause the animal unnecessary stress. I hope this dog is in a happy and forever home!
