Retrieving fees.

Question

I am trying to find out what the fee is for me to get my dog out of the pound. He was taken from my friend's house because she got arrested.

Answer

Impound/reclaim fees differ throughout the country and sometimes even among municipalities within the same state. The number of days shelters must hold lost and stray animals before placing them in new homes, transferring them to another adoption agency, or euthanizing them also varies. It is very important for people to retrieve their animals in a timely manner. I strongly suggest that you immediately go to the shelter. It will be helpful to have proof that you are the dog’s “parent.” I hope this all works out well for the dog!
