In an inspiring display of youthful generosity and community spirit, two fourth-grade girls in Port Washington, NY recently set up a lemonade stand in their neighborhood with a positive mission: to raise funds for North Shore Animal League America. Driven by their love for animals and the desire to make a difference, we were thrilled these young philanthropists chose to dedicate their efforts to our organization.
Bryce and Harlie, proud pet owners and avid animal lovers, knew they wanted their efforts to benefit a cause close to their hearts. “We wanted to help animals because we love our dogs,” the girls told us. Their lemonade stand quickly became a community sensation. Many customers donated generously, simply moved by the girls’ mission. “It was amazing how many people gave us money because it was going to Animal League America,” Bryce’s mom, Gabby said. The culmination of their efforts was a visit to our shelter, where the girls proudly delivered their donation and got to meet the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens they had worked so hard to help.
Their parents couldn’t be prouder. “Caring for pets has taught our daughters responsibility and empathy,” Gabby shared. “Our pets are part of our family, and it’s wonderful to see our children extend that love and care to benefit other animals.” Bryce and Harlie are shining examples of how compassion and initiative can make a difference. We’re grateful for their contribution and look forward to welcoming them as volunteers in the future!
