Humane Animal Partners located in Wilmington, DE took part in our 2024 Tour For Life® adoption event and share this special story: “Sheldon is an 8-year-old terrier mix who was abandoned by squatters on a nearby property. He was emaciated, malnourished, and covered in fleas. He also tested positive for multiple intestinal parasites. Thankfully, he made it to Humane Animal Partners just in time for our medical team to begin a treatment plan for him. Despite his condition, Sheldon could not stop wiggling over to everyone with the biggest smile on his face, and was extremely tolerant and very friendly with people. His perseverance and strength throughout his treatment was truly incredible. Our staff was thrilled when Sheldon was adopted during our Tour For Life® promotion! He is thriving in his forever home and getting all the love he deserves.”

Tex
This year’s Global Pet Adoptathon kicked off with black Labrador mix Tex capturing the hearts of Jessica and her entire family. They were elated to mark the first adoption of the weekend, and Tex’s new mom shared how much she had hoped they’d find a special four-legged friend: “I grew up with pets and understand the value of having an animal as part of your family.” As fate would have it, Tex’s adoption was especially meaningful. “I lost my boy, also a rescue, back in October,” Jessica said. “His birthday was May 31 and since he passed, the number 31 keeps appearing. Tex’s birthday is January 31 and it felt like a sign! We are just in love with him. He is so affectionate and playful.” Tex has quickly settled into his new life, and is bringing joy and smiles to his new family every day.
